October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is breast cancer awareness month the Nationa Breast Cancer Research Institute are asking everyone to consider holding a fundraising event at their workplace, school, or home in aid of the charity during the course of the month.

A ‘Pink Day’, Coffee Morning,  ‘Pink Party’ or a cake sale every cent counts and gives a chance to have some fun while supporting the work of the research team based at the Lambe Institute, University of Galway.

In Ireland, 1 in 7 women will develop breast cancer during their lifetime, breast cancer is more common in women over the age of 50, however, women (and men) of any age can develop breast cancer.  Your support in helping to fund our research program will have a real difference to him our research team ascertain the causes and factors that influence breast cancer and therefore help to develop effective screening, treatments and medication to combat it.
