Founded in 1991, the National Breast Cancer Research Institute is a national charity that raises funds in support of world-class breast cancer research at the University of Galway. By funding this research, we aim to positively impact future outcomes for breast cancer patients. The Role

As NBCRI continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced Fundraising Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and growing fundraising income across multiple income streams.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the fight against breast cancer. The Fundraising Manager will work closely with the NBCRI Team, under the direction of the NBCRI Director of Operations, to raise funds for breast cancer research.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for:

Growing Fundraising Income as follows:

  • Leading delivery of core strategic income streams to achieve overall fundraising targets.
  • Creating and leading major national fundraising campaigns with corporate, retail, and media partners.
  • Developing compelling, bespoke proposals to engage and secure support from high-value private and corporate donors, including legacy fundraising.
  • Maximising ROI across all fundraising activities and broadening income sources to reduce reliance on any single stream.

 

Fundraising Strategy Development:

  • Assist in developing and operationalising a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with NBCRI’s mission and values,
  • Support in preparing regular reports for the Board of Directors, including progress updates and financial summaries.
  • Working closely with the NBCRI Team to ensure appropriate publicity for corporate and events supporters.
  • Stay informed about fundraising trends and market dynamics, providing input for strategy adjustments as necessary.

 

Communications

  • Ensure transparency in all fundraising activities, adhering to ethical standards and policies in line with and Charities Regulator’s Fundraising Guidelines
  • Producing regular income and expenditure reports for key events to share with NBCRI team, board and relevant committees.
  • Producing planning strategies for annual income capturing strengths, challenges andnew growth potential for income streams.
  • Acting as a public representative of the Charity, building and managing key relationships.
  • Assist in establishing a new CRM system to monitor and evaluate fundraising activities, ensuring alignment with targets.
  • Other duties as might reasonably be required.

 

Reporting Arrangements

The post holder will report directly to the NBCRI Director of Operations and will have regular contact with Communications & Events Coordinator, Digital Marketing Executive and the Charity’s Administrator, as well as Board Members and Chairperson. In addition, the post holder will have regular contact with the Director of the Research Programme, the Cancer Centre Manager and the research team at the Lambe Institute.

 
Employment Details
  • The contract for the post will be Permanent and Full Time (subject to six months probationary period).
  • Office is located in the Symptomatic Breast Unit, University Hospital Galway but candidate must have ability to travel to events and sponsors as required.
  • Full-time (37.5 hours/week) – the role is usually Monday – Friday 9AM – 5PM, but there are instances where the candidate will be required to work at events in evenings or weekends.
  • The Charity operates a hybrid working policy of up to 2 days per week remote working, subject to successful completion of the probation period.

  • Normal vouched business expenses incurred in the performance of the role in line with charity expense policy will be reimbursed.
