Boston Scientific’s Galway site is proud to announce a two-year charity partnership with the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI), a leading organisation dedicated to funding breast cancer research in Ireland, with the aim to raise over €200,000 in donations for the organisation.

This partnership, nominated and chosen by Boston Scientific employees, will support NBCRI’s mission to improve outcomes for breast cancer patients through groundbreaking research and awareness initiatives. With breast cancer affecting one in seven Irish women in their lifetime, and incidence rates increasing, continued research is critical in the fight against the disease.

Caroline Loughnane, Chairperson of NBCRI, welcomed the partnership, stating: “We are delighted that the National Breast Cancer Research Institute has been chosen by the staff of Boston Scientific as their Charity Partner for 2025/26. As a global leader in medical device technology, Boston Scientific is the perfect partner for the breast cancer research programme supported by the National Breast Cancer Research Institute. Their support will go a long way in helping to highlight the important work of the charity.”

Professor Michael Kerin, Director of Research at NBCRI, expressed his excitement for the partnership: “This is incredible news, the partnership will have a fantastic impact on our research programme. Research remains at the centre of improved outcomes for Irish women with breast cancer, and currently, our focus is on improved detection, discovery of biomarkers to target tumours, and enhancing health and wellbeing after diagnosis and treatment. Thank you so much to the management and staff of Boston Scientific. I look forward to us working together in moving our research forward.

Based in Ballybrit, Boston Scientific is one of the region’s largest employers with more than 4,000 employed in Galway. Over the next two years, employees will participate in a variety of fundraising and awareness activities in support of NBCRI’s research efforts. Funds raised will directly support key research projects, ensuring continued progress in the fight against breast cancer.
