EUROSPAR Cobh raises funds for official cancer charity

€2,500 raised for National Breast Cancer Research Institute

EUROSPAR Cobh hosted a very successful and fun fund-raising day for EUROSPAR’s official charity partner, National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI) recently, with more than €2,500 raised and donated to the charity by EUROSPAR Cobh’s Shane Jones.

As part of a day-long celebration, EUROSPAR Cobh donated the proceeds from all car washes and coffee sales on the day and laid on plenty of entertainment for the wider Cobh community to enjoy, including delicious food samples, ice cream and face painting for the kids. Anyone who got a car wash was also entered into a draw to win €100’s worth of prizes.

Entertainment was put on by local Cork radio station, 96fm, who had their Street Fleet squad in attendance to add to the fun-filled atmosphere.

Commenting, EUROSPAR Cobh’s Shane Jones said, “We are all very proud to support EUROSPAR’s national charity, National Breast Cancer Research Institute, and this was a really fun way of doing that. We raised €2,500 for them on the day, and it was wonderful to see so many of the local Cobh community get behind us and support the activities.”

The NBCRI, a national charity that funds a comprehensive research programme at the University of Galway, was chosen as EUROSPAR‘s official charity partner for the 2 years (2024-2026) and will benefit from funds raised through a donation from the sale of select SPAR own brand products and other fundraising efforts such as EUROSPAR Cobh’s Car Wash Day whereby all monies raised were donated.
