Women’s Health Initiative Public Engagement

Members of the Clarinbridge Cairde group from Galway visited the research facilities back in February this year. Helena Kett, Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Symptomatic Breast Clinic at University Hospital Galway delivered an informative talk on breast cancer awareness and self-breast examination and Prof Aoife Lowery, Consultant Breast Surgeon and NBCRI research lead, spoke about the Women’s Health Initiative programme.

Dr Veronica McInerney hosted the event and gave a tour of the HRB-Clinical Research Facility and Emer Hennessy, Cancer Centre Research Manager, showed off the breast cancer laboratory research facilities in the Lambe Institute.

This was a great opportunity to show where money from cancer research fundraising goes and empower women to know more about their health.

We were thrilled to hear Clarinbridge Cairde also took part in the ‘Walk in Pink’ for the charity.

Thanks for the support!

The Women’s Health Initiative programme in Galway is co-funded by the National Breast Cancer Research Institute and the Irish Cancer Society.
